Mentoring Program Launched

BPW/FL’s Education Foundation has launched a long-awaited opportunity for BPW/FL members to serve as mentors to the residents of the Foundation’s Scholarship Houses (in Tallahassee and Boca Raton) and scholarship recipients statewide. Members can be connected with students pursuing a similar career path, or who have geographic commonality.

The Education Foundation of the Florida Federation of Business & Professional Women’s Clubs, Inc. (BPW/FL Education Foundation) was organized in 1965 as a 501(c)(3). Its purpose is to make available to women an opportunity to pursue higher learning.

The concept was originally realized by building scholarship houses for women on Florida state university campuses, providing a cooperative living/learning environment for female students who have a demonstrated financial need and outstanding academic records. Residents share leadership experiences, life skills development and a family community. Students live rent-free, paying only for food, housekeeping needs and utilities. Subsequently, direct housing scholarship funds have been established at two additional Florida institutions.
