23 Aug Member Spotlight: Kristin Smith
Kristin Smith, WMS, RICP®
Associate Vice President, Investments
Wealth Management Specialist
Kristin just celebrated her 24th anniversary as a Financial Advisor with Raymond James & Associates, where she has been working in the downtown St. Petersburg branch office since she started with the company. She earned her Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Eckerd College, attending the PEL Program at night while raising her son on her own after the death of her first husband. She has since also earned designations as a Wealth Management Specialist and as a Retirement Income Certified Professional. After experiencing firsthand how difficult it was to be a suddenly widowed, working mother early in life, Kristin made helping other women a focus of her professional practice, and enjoys the challenge of helping others to find the best pathway to achieving their dreams and becoming financially secure and independent.
Kristin is also very active in her community, and currently serves as the Chair of the Board of Trustees for Suncoast Center Inc., a large non-profit that offers a broad range of programs addressing emotional wellness, trauma services, and child advocacy throughout Pinellas County. She is also a board member and loan committee chairperson for Project Prosper, an organization that promotes financial literacy and offers interest-free micro loans to immigrants and refugees in the community.
She has also been a member of BPW for the past 22 years, and has held several leadership roles at both the local and state level, including chairing the Equal Pay Day events for her LO (BPW/St. Petersburg-Pinellas) for the past 19 years. She is currently President-Elect for her LO and Chair of the BPW/FL Public Policy Committee. In her spare time, Kristin’s hobbies include playing golf, riding her motorcycle, growing orchids, reading science fiction, cheering for the Tampa Bay Rays, and traveling. She and her fiancé, Jim, live in Gulfport and share a home with several furry friends and two teenagers, all of whom like to make occasional guest appearances during BPW/FL Zoom meetings.
